Private jet charter to Da Nang

Long overlooked by international visitors heading to culturally-rich Hoi An or Hue, the coastal city of Da Nang has now become a popular stop on many people’s Vietnam itinerary. It does lack the rich heritage of its neighbouring city, however, you can find a few treasures if you look hard enough. And anyway, it’s the city’s 30km-coastline that are the main draw.

Da Nang is not just a seaside city, it’s also a riverside city with the Han river cutting it into two. On the western bank, you’ll find the modern glass buildings along the riverfront and the city centre behind that. To the east is the beachside area where high-rise hotels cater to the ever-growing number of visitors looking for that city and beach atmosphere that Da Nang specialises in.

The city centre is where you’ll find a handful of cultural attractions. These include the serene Phap Lam Pagoda, which was built in the 1930s, the Museum of Cham Sculpture which is housed in a brightly coloured building built by the French, and the Han Market where you can sample local produce and buy handicrafts. You should also set aside some time to wander across one of the city’s many striking bridges; Cau Rong with its steel dragon is a particular favourite, especially when it breathes fire every Saturday and Sunday night at 9pm.

It won’t be long before you’ve exhausted the main sights of the city so it will soon be time for a drink and some dinner. Thankfully, the riverside Bach Dang, with its promenade and plentiful roof-top bars, is the perfect places for a sundowner and a city-wide view. Then head back to the side streets leading away from the market for some street food – a must wherever you are in Vietnam.

Da Nang’s beaches are largely split into three areas – the southern beaches, the Son Tra peninsula and the northern beaches. For a lively atmosphere and a number of hotels, bars and restaurants, head to the southern beaches, and in particular My Khe, where travellers often spend a few days resting before stepping back on to the Vietnam sightseeing trail. With its gently sloping white sand beach and upmarket resorts, Non Nuoc, which is slightly further south than My Khe, is another popular waterside spot.

For quieter beaches, you’ll need to travel to the Son Tra Peninsula – an area that the French dubbed Angels’ Landing. This area has avoided the large scale development that can be seen further south with just a few resorts dotting the coast of the otherwise forest-clad area. The beaches are usually private and it’s likely that there will be a daily charge to use them (and you’ll probably have to buy a drink or two to be allowed to stick around) but they are far less crowded. Don’t miss a visit to the Man Thai fishing village or the Linh Ung Pagoda between your beach stops. The beaches further north are also gloriously quiet and the backdrop of Hai Van Mountain will be the perfect backdrop to lazy days by the water.

If you haven’t had your fill of bridges then you should head up to the Ba Na Hills resort to the west of the city. It’s here that you’ll find a bridge that caused a bit of an internet sensation when it opened in the summer of 2018. Known in English as Gold Bridge, this sweeping architectural masterpiece is seemingly held up by two giant hands made of stone. The hill station itself is worth a visit thanks to the breathtaking views back over the city and coast, the old French church and cooler temperatures (very welcome on a hot and humid day down by the coast).

Aside from the beaches and Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang is not without a couple of natural wonders. The beautiful Marble Mountains – five limestone and marble hills – are located just to the south of Da Nang’s main beach resorts. As well as being very scenic, the caves and grottoes inside the mountains have some human interest; the Mountain of Water is home to 17th-Century pagodas and caves filled with Buddhist relics. You can also climb to the top of the mountain for some more fantastic views.

Da Nang’s international airport, the transportation hub of central Vietnam, could hardly be closer to the heart of the city – the downtown area is wedged between the airfield and the river. Simply contact one of our team and we can arrange everything you need to charter a private jet to Da Nang.
