Your first stop is Guatemala, an exotic paradise prized for its dramatic volcanoes, lush rainforests and fascinating ancient Mayan ruins. Here you’ll spend two nights in a lakeview suite at La Lancha, a charming 10-room rainforest retreat overlooking stunning Lake Petén Itzá. This remote lodge is under an hour’s drive from the ancient ruins of Tikal, the epicenter of Mayan spirituality, and during your stay you’ll enjoy a full-day tour of this mystical site.

Dating back to around 700 AD, Tikal was once one of the world’s greatest cities and today remains one of its most intriguing archaeological wonders. While exploring the world-famous ruins, you’ll discover the city’s five monolithic temples (one almost 230ft high), ancient plazas, columns and ball courts, all of which hark back to a rich and powerful history.

You’ll spend the next three nights in a riverfront cabana at Blancaneaux Lodge, a rustic-luxe collection of villas and cabanas scattered along the Privasson River. While in Belize, you’ll explore the country’s idyllic natural wonders – starting with a canoe trip through the traditional Mennonite village of Upper Barton Creek, continuing to a remote cave that’s a former Mayan burial and ceremonial site.

Next you’ll head into the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve to visit the Rio Frio Cave, once a sacred Mayan burial site, where a flowing stream leads to a series of cascading waterfalls. After exploring, you’ll explore the ancient Maya archaeological site of Caracol, a partially excavated complex comprising five plazas, an astronomic observatory and a huge pyramid. Your tour ends with a refreshing dip in the cooling natural pools of Rio On.
